Shady Rest Cottage Colony on Cape Cod, Truro, MA Local Interests

Shady Rest Cottage Colony is located near the tip of picturesque Cape Cod in the sleepy town of Truro, equidistant from Provincetown and Wellfleet. We are surrounded by beautiful bay and top rated ocean side beaches. Within a fifteen minute drive in either direction you have access to over 30 beaches, each distinctive and beautiful in their own way. The map to the right lists only some of the beaches in Truro alone. Some of these are town owned beaches while some of them are operated by The National Seashore (part of the National Parks Service). Cape Cod Bay is the largest natural harbor in the world, because of this, the area is famous for it's great water sports, several whale watching boats, deep sea fishing, schooner cruises and party boats. All of these can be easily accessed from MacMillan Pier in Provincetown. The outer cape is famous for it's sunsets which can be enjoyed from any of the local beaches. Beach fire permits can be easily applied for at the local Fire Department.

			To fully enjoy the natural beauty of the outer Cape, there are numerous walking and biking trails situated throughout the area. Whether you want to explore on your own or follow a laid out path, the trails are endless. The biking paths run almost the entire length of the cape and many world class athletes use these paths to train on. In Provincetown you can also rent horses for an amazing adventure of riding on the beaches and through the dunes with other groups of riders. Dune tours are also available from the comfort of an RV.

	Just a short drive from the Cottage Colony brings you to Provincetown, a unique old fishing village and the original landing place of the pilgrims (the Magna Carta was signed in Provincetown Harbor). Provincetown is famous for it's many fine restaurants, unique shopping, art galleries, narrow streets and beautiful gardens. Nightlife accommodates many tastes, from cabarets, dance clubs and everyone's favorite, people watching.
